MUSCAT: The current weather system sweeping Oman is expected to result in cloud formation and scattered rainfall across several regions. The varying intensities of the rain will affect a wide range of governorates, prompting residents to prepare for potential disruptions. Authorities have issued advisories to stay cautious, particularly in areas prone to flooding or adverse weather conditions.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, December 24 and 25, light to moderate rainfall is forecasted in the governorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, and parts of Al Dakhiliyah. Rainfall levels are expected to range between 5–15 mm, accompanied by winds blowing at speeds of 10–20 knots. The combination of precipitation and gusty winds may lead to reduced visibility on roads, and drivers are urged to exercise caution.
The weather on Thursday, December 26, will bring similar rainfall intensity to Musandam, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah, parts of Al Dakhiliyah, and the Al Hajar Mountains. The winds, maintaining speeds between 10–20 knots, are likely to contribute to further unsettled conditions. The mountainous regions, in particular, are at risk of runoff and flash flooding due to the topography.
Authorities recommend following updates from the Civil Aviation Authority’s weather department to stay informed about changing conditions. Citizens and residents are also advised to secure outdoor items and limit travel during peak rain hours to avoid risks posed by slippery roads and poor visibility.
