THAILAND: A devastating accident on Motorway Route 7 in Chonburi, Thailand, claimed the life of 37-year-old Miss Nipaphorn on Thursday, 18 September, at approximately 11:30 AM. The fatal crash involved several vehicles, including a motorcycle, a pickup truck, a van, and an 18-wheeler. Nipaphorn, who was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle with her 27-year-old boyfriend, was thrown into the path of the truck and killed instantly. Her grieving partner survived the crash but was left heartbroken, sitting beside her body until authorities removed it from the scene.
According to the 18-wheeler driver, he had just exited a junction when a pickup truck and a van suddenly overtook him and braked sharply. Nipaphorn and her boyfriend were following behind in their motorcycle. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the motorcycle swerved, ultimately clipping another vehicle and sending Nipaphorn directly into the truck’s path. The sequence of events left the boyfriend traumatized as he watched his partner tragically lose her life.
The drivers of the pickup truck and van reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crash, adding a hit-and-run element to the tragedy. Mr Jakkraphan, Nipaphorn’s boyfriend, recounted how both vehicles braked suddenly while he was overtaking on the left lane. Despite his efforts to maneuver safely and prevent a collision, the motorcycle struck another vehicle, resulting in the fatal trajectory toward the 18-wheeler.
Local authorities and Thai media reported that the crash was a result of reckless driving by the pickup truck and van, combined with the crowded traffic conditions on the motorway. The incident highlights ongoing concerns over road safety in Thailand, particularly involving sudden braking and risky overtaking maneuvers that endanger multiple road users.
