Supreme Judicial Council Announces Changes to Court Fees

MUSCAT: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has revealed important modifications to the fees for courts, public prosecution, and notary public services. This step is part of the third phase of the government services pricing project, aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency in the legal system. The changes are expected to streamline the processes involved in legal procedures, making them more accessible to citizens and residents.

The adjustments will affect various aspects of the legal system, including court filings, notary services, and the public prosecution’s functions. These revised fees reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to improving public services while ensuring that legal services remain affordable for everyone. The reform aims to reduce the burden on individuals who require access to the legal system for personal or business matters.

Officials from the Ministry of Finance have also emphasized that the changes are being implemented after thorough consultations and careful evaluation of the needs of the legal community and the public. The objective is to create a balanced fee structure that supports the sustainability of the justice system without overburdening citizens. The third phase of the pricing project follows earlier efforts to modernize and optimize government services in line with international best practices.

The SJC, in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, will continue to monitor the implementation of these fee adjustments and gather feedback from the public. They are committed to ensuring that the changes achieve the intended results, improving the overall efficiency of the judicial system while maintaining fairness and accessibility for all individuals involved in legal proceedings.
