Speed Limit Changes Across Major Emirates

MUSCAT: Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have announced updates to speed limits in several key regions, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah. These changes aim to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents across urban and highway networks. Drivers are strongly urged to stay informed about the new limits and adjust their driving habits accordingly to avoid fines and potential black points on their licenses.

In Abu Dhabi, specific highways such as Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road and the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road have seen speed limit reductions in high-risk zones. These adjustments are supported by increased signage and radar installations to monitor compliance. The Integrated Transport Centre has issued reminders urging motorists to exercise caution and maintain safe distances, especially during peak travel times.

Dubai has implemented modified speed limits on select urban roads where congestion and pedestrian activity are higher. Roads including parts of Al Wasl, Jumeirah, and Business Bay now have reduced speed thresholds to prioritize pedestrian safety and minimize collision risks. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) highlighted that these areas were selected following thorough traffic analysis and community feedback.

In Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, local traffic departments have lowered limits on roads with a history of high-speed violations. These changes are being enforced immediately with the aid of smart traffic systems and surveillance cameras. Motorists are advised to use navigation apps that offer real-time updates and to regularly check official announcements to remain compliant with the new speed regulations.
