SALALAH: Phase one of the sewage network project in the Sahalnout area of Salalah Wilayat was officially inaugurated today, February 2, marking a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure development. The project, which has been under construction for several months, aims to enhance the area’s sanitation system, ensuring better waste management and environmental protection. Local authorities and engineers involved in the project emphasized its importance in improving public health standards and facilitating sustainable urban expansion.
The newly opened phase includes an extensive pipeline network designed to efficiently collect and transport wastewater from residential and commercial areas to the designated treatment facilities. With a modernized system in place, the project is expected to significantly reduce the risk of water contamination and soil pollution, aligning with national efforts to promote environmental sustainability. Engineers have implemented advanced wastewater management technology to optimize the network’s functionality and ensure long-term efficiency.
Officials from the municipality highlighted that the completion of this phase is just the beginning of a broader plan to expand sewage services throughout Salalah Wilayat. Future phases will cover additional neighborhoods, gradually integrating more areas into the centralized network. The project also reflects the government’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure in response to the growing population and increasing demand for reliable sanitation services. As urbanization continues, such projects play a crucial role in maintaining public hygiene and supporting the city’s long-term development goals.
Residents in the Sahalnout area have welcomed the initiative, expressing relief that proper sewage facilities are now available to improve their quality of life. Many had previously faced challenges related to outdated or inefficient waste disposal methods, which often led to environmental and health concerns. With the completion of phase one, expectations are high for the upcoming stages of the project, which will further strengthen the overall sewage system and contribute to a cleaner, healthier community.
