Royal Decree Transfers Medical Services To Ministry Of Health

MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued Royal Decree No. 51/2025, which officially transfers the Directorate General of Medical Services from the Diwan of Royal Court to the Ministry of Health. This significant administrative change aims to enhance the management and oversight of medical services within Oman by placing them directly under the health ministry’s authority. The decree marks a strategic move to streamline healthcare governance and improve service delivery for the public.

Article 1 of the decree clearly states the transfer of the Directorate General of Medical Services to the Ministry of Health. This transfer means that all responsibilities, including planning, execution, and supervision of medical services previously handled by the Royal Court, will now be managed by the Ministry of Health. The shift reflects the government’s commitment to strengthen the healthcare sector through centralized management.

Article 2 outlines that all allocations, rights, obligations, and assets belonging to the Directorate General of Medical Services will be transferred to the Ministry of Health. This includes budgets, medical equipment, and any contractual agreements. Ensuring a smooth transition of resources is crucial for maintaining uninterrupted medical services and avoiding any operational gaps during the handover process.

Article 3 highlights the transfer of all medical and paramedical staff, along with other personnel working under the Directorate General of Medical Services, to the Ministry of Health. This transfer maintains their job status, grades, and financial benefits without any disruption. The decree ensures that employees continue their roles seamlessly under the new administrative structure, preserving their rights and employment conditions.
