MUSCAT: The event, held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, marks a significant milestone in Oman’s efforts to showcase its rich heritage and modern infrastructure. The initiative serves as a platform to highlight the Sultanate’s cultural treasures and cutting-edge developments, positioning Oman as a leader in both tourism and business on the global stage.
The event featured the launch of a virtual tour experience, allowing users worldwide to explore Oman’s natural beauty and historical landmarks. This project highlights Oman’s majestic mountains, deserts, beaches, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Khor Rori. The digital tour offers an interactive way to discover Oman’s most iconic locations.
Utilizing advanced Trekkers, a 36,000-square-kilometre area of Oman was captured, showcasing the country’s diverse cultural and natural wonders. The virtual experience aims to attract international interest in Oman’s tourism and business sectors. By offering a virtual exploration, the project allows global audiences to experience Oman without the need for travel.
The first phase of the project focuses on key sites, aiming to introduce Oman’s top destinations to a global audience. These landmarks, which include ancient forts and natural wonders, will serve as the foundation for the virtual tour, engaging potential tourists and investors. The aim is to highlight Oman’s tourism potential and encourage future visits.
The second phase, scheduled for 2025, will expand the virtual tour to include even more locations, offering a more comprehensive view of Oman’s attractions. With additional landmarks and cultural sites, the project will continue to evolve, strengthening Oman’s image as a world-class destination for both tourism and business.
