MUSCAT: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Jakarta has issued an urgent notice on Wednesday advising all Omani citizens to avoid engaging with offices involved in the recruitment of domestic workers from Indonesia. This advisory comes in light of the ongoing suspension of official permits for exporting Indonesian domestic workers to Arab nations, including Oman, as highlighted in the embassy’s announcement. Citizens are cautioned that any dealings with these agencies are deemed unofficial and fall outside the boundaries of legal and regulatory frameworks.
According to the embassy, the recruitment of Indonesian domestic workers for employment in Oman remains unauthorised and is not recognized under the current bilateral agreements or legal protocols. Consequently, financial dealings or payments made to such offices carry significant risk, as these transactions are not protected by law and cannot be legally reclaimed. Omani nationals who pursue these channels are effectively exposing themselves to potential fraud and financial loss.
The embassy further clarified that since the recruitment is not approved through official Indonesian or Omani government channels, no diplomatic or legal intervention can be undertaken to assist in the recovery of funds or resolution of disputes that arise from such arrangements. Individuals are therefore strongly urged to exercise caution and ensure that any hiring processes are in line with approved and legal procedures endorsed by both governments.
Emphasising the seriousness of the matter, the embassy reiterated that any recruitment conducted outside the recognised legal framework is considered unlawful. The statement serves as a stern warning to Omani citizens to avoid falling victim to unauthorised and deceptive practices. It is essential that all interactions regarding employment, particularly in foreign countries, be handled through official channels to ensure safety, legality, and accountability.
