MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman has issued a clear statement through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressing firm opposition to recent expansionist proposals in the region. The statement underlines that such plans constitute a direct threat to regional security and stability, while flagrantly violating international law. Oman emphasized that these proposals undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state on their lands in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Ministry stressed that adherence to international legitimacy and respect for sovereignty are essential for peace and stability in the Middle East.
Oman’s statement further highlighted that provocative rhetoric and policies exacerbate tensions and fuel hostility, at a time when regional de-escalation and cooperation are critical. The Ministry called attention to the urgent need for nations to respect principles of national sovereignty, good neighbourliness, and peaceful coexistence. Oman reaffirmed that any actions undermining the territorial integrity or political geography of regional states are unacceptable and threaten the broader framework of stability that sustains diplomatic and economic relations in the Middle East.
The Ministry reiterated Oman’s unwavering support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish an independent state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in alignment with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. Oman stressed that these rights are non-negotiable and that the international community must recognize and protect them. The statement also called for calm and constructive dialogue as the only viable path toward long-term peace and security in the region.
Finally, Oman urged the global community to take a decisive stance against aggressive policies that threaten Palestinian rights and regional stability. The Sultanate highlighted its commitment to supporting comprehensive and just peace efforts, emphasizing the importance of protecting national entities, preventing unilateral territorial changes, and fostering conditions conducive to negotiation and conflict resolution. Through this firm position, Oman reinforces its role as a promoter of diplomacy, stability, and international law in the Middle East.
