Oman Renews Support For Palestine Amid Gaza Tragedy

MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, received a phone call from Hussein Al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), to discuss the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. The conversation focused on the ongoing Israeli aggression, described as genocide, and the severe blockade leading to starvation among Palestinian civilians. Both sides voiced grave concern over the worsening situation and called for urgent international intervention.

The officials emphasized the critical need for coordinated regional and global efforts to bring an immediate end to the violence, lift the siege, and ensure safe and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza. They highlighted that these steps are essential to ease civilian suffering and reaffirmed the urgency of enforcing international humanitarian law in response to the crisis. The conversation underscored that sustained diplomatic engagement is key to facilitating long-term stability in the region.

Sayyid Badr reiterated Oman’s unwavering commitment to peace based on dialogue, justice, and respect for international norms. He called on the international community to intensify efforts to prevent further atrocities and famine, reaffirming that silence in the face of such suffering is unacceptable. Oman’s position remains aligned with the call for a two-state solution that guarantees the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Both parties stressed the importance of maintaining momentum behind political, diplomatic, and legal channels aimed at securing a comprehensive and just peace. They agreed that a credible peace process, rooted in UN resolutions and international frameworks, is the only sustainable path forward. Oman reaffirmed its active role in supporting any constructive dialogue that leads to a resolution grounded in fairness and the protection of human dignity.
