Oman Reaffirms Food Security Goals At FAO Conference

MUSCAT: Oman has once again demonstrated its commitment to global food security by actively participating in the 44th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Conference, currently taking place in Rome, Italy, and running until July 4. The conference brings together member nations to discuss global agricultural policies, sustainable food systems, and international cooperation strategies to ensure food availability and reduce hunger worldwide. Oman’s delegation is led by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

During the conference, Omani representatives emphasized the Sultanate’s ongoing efforts to strengthen food security at both the national and international levels. These efforts include investments in sustainable agriculture, modern irrigation technologies, and strategic partnerships with other countries and global agencies. Oman also highlighted its Vision 2040 goals, which prioritize environmental sustainability and self-sufficiency in key agricultural sectors, reinforcing its alignment with FAO’s global agenda.

Oman’s participation also involves presenting national achievements and challenges in food and agricultural development, including climate resilience projects, innovation in food production, and digital transformation in agricultural practices. By engaging in dialogues and knowledge-sharing sessions, Oman’s delegation aims to learn from other nations while showcasing its own progress in tackling food insecurity, particularly in arid and water-scarce environments.

The FAO Conference is an essential platform for shaping the future of global agriculture and food systems. Through its presence, Oman underscores its role as a responsible global partner in addressing food crises and supporting international food governance. The discussions are expected to contribute to developing inclusive, resilient, and climate-smart agricultural policies that serve both immediate needs and long-term goals across all participating nations.
