MUSCAT: The Ministry of Higher Education in Oman has confirmed that subsistence allowances for Omani scholarship students for the period from September to December 2024 have been disbursed retroactively. This payment, which adheres to the principles and regulations of the National Support System, aims to support students who rely on financial assistance while studying. The disbursement ensures that scholarship students will continue to have the necessary financial support to pursue their studies without interruption.
Additionally, the Ministry highlighted that students who were part of the previous social security category and have historically received allowances will now receive their living stipends in two separate batches. This initiative is intended to streamline the distribution process, ensuring that all eligible students are provided with their financial support in a timely manner. By doing so, the Ministry reinforces its commitment to ensuring that no student faces undue hardship due to delays in financial aid.
The scholarship payment initiative reflects the government’s broader efforts to support higher education in Oman. This includes providing financial aid to students pursuing education both domestically and abroad, enabling them to focus on their academic endeavors without the burden of financial instability. It also underscores the government’s dedication to investing in the future of the nation by empowering its young people through education.
In line with the National Support System’s objectives, the Ministry of Higher Education is committed to maintaining transparency and ensuring that financial support reaches students who need it most. The retroactive disbursement is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen Oman’s scholarship programs and provide equitable opportunities for all students. This initiative also aligns with the country’s broader goals of increasing access to higher education and fostering a more educated and skilled workforce for the future.
