Oman Launches Serb Platform to Regulate Drone Operations

MUSCAT: The Civil Aviation Authority of Oman has officially announced the launch of the “Serb” platform, a state-of-the-art initiative aimed at managing and regulating drone traffic across the Sultanate. The platform represents a transformative approach to ensure airspace safety while fostering innovation and responsible usage of drones for recreational and professional purposes.

The “Serb” platform enables users to register their drones, apply for flight authorizations, and operate within approved green zones. These safe zones, determined in collaboration with military and security authorities, are designated to minimize risks to people, property, and the environment. By January 28, 2025, the platform will be fully accessible to the public, offering an intuitive and efficient system for complying with drone operation regulations.

The Civil Aviation Authority has strongly urged drone operators to provide accurate registration details to avoid unauthorized usage. The platform emphasizes strict adherence to its regulations, warning users of significant legal repercussions for violations. With no tolerance for non-compliance, the initiative underscores Oman’s commitment to upholding safety standards in drone activities.

This groundbreaking initiative highlights Oman’s progressive stance on integrating advanced technologies while ensuring public safety. The “Serb” platform not only facilitates innovation but also reinforces the Sultanate’s dedication to safeguarding its airspace and the wellbeing of its citizens.
