Oman Launches Over 1,100 Job Opportunities In Retail And Wholesale

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, has announced the creation of 1,157 job opportunities within the wholesale and retail sectors in Oman. Of these, 525 are direct jobs, while 332 opportunities are available at fuel stations across the Sultanate. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to boosting employment opportunities and fostering economic growth in key sectors. These positions are designed to address the growing demand for skilled workers and support the retail and wholesale industries’ ongoing development.

To further promote employment in the retail sector, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has partnered with a specialized academy to provide 300 direct job placements coupled with training. This agreement is aimed at equipping young Omanis with the necessary skills to excel in the retail industry, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges of this rapidly evolving sector. The collaboration will be facilitated through the Employment and Training Support Centre at the Ministry of Labour, reinforcing the government’s commitment to developing Omani talent and reducing reliance on foreign labor.

This announcement came during a signing ceremony for various cooperation programs with wholesale and retail sector establishments in Oman. The event also marked the launch of the “Itqan” programme, which is designed to enhance the skills of Omani youth in the industrial sector. The launch of this program aligns with the Ministry’s strategic goal of empowering the local workforce and creating opportunities for Omanis to take on more prominent roles within the country’s growing economy. This initiative aims to develop the technical expertise of Omani nationals, making them more competitive in the job market.

In addition to the “Itqan” program, the Ministry also signed cooperation agreements with numerous factories, industrial facilities, and higher education institutions. These partnerships will play a vital role in grooming Omani youth with the necessary technical knowledge and skills to meet the demands of the modern workforce. By collaborating with these organizations, the Ministry is furthering its mission to create a more diversified and skilled labor force, positioning Oman for long-term economic success and sustainability.
