Oman Introduces New Law To Strengthen National Security

MUSCAT: His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and Chairman of NCCHT, highlighted that the new legislation reflects Oman’s commitment to protecting society from threats that could undermine security and stability. The law aims to create a safe environment for residents and citizens by addressing risks proactively while maintaining harmony with national values. It emphasizes both preventive and deterrent measures, ensuring that public safety is prioritized across all sectors of society.

The legislation also underscores the Sultanate’s dedication to human rights, framing protection and support as a shared national and social responsibility. Authorities have ensured that the law aligns with international standards, balancing enforcement with respect for individual freedoms. This approach demonstrates Oman’s effort to remain modern and globally aligned while preserving its cultural authenticity and societal principles.

In addition to legal measures, the law strengthens victim support mechanisms, offering comprehensive protections and resources to those affected by crimes or social threats. By combining prevention, deterrence, and assistance, Oman aims to cultivate public confidence and a resilient social framework. Officials believe that integrating community safety with legal safeguards fosters a sense of collective responsibility and long-term societal stability.

His Excellency emphasized that the law is more than a set of legal provisions; it represents a message that Oman will remain a “cradle of dignity and security” for all who live within its borders. The legislation reflects the Sultanate’s ongoing vision to maintain public order while promoting safety, justice, and human dignity, reinforcing Oman’s reputation as a secure and stable nation in the region.
