Oman Grants 3,407 Residency Cards To Foreign Investors

MUSCAT: By the end of February 2025, the Sultanate of Oman had issued long-term residency cards to 3,407 foreign investors under its expanding investment residency programme. This initiative, introduced to enhance foreign direct investment and diversify the national economy, continues to attract global interest, offering stability and incentives for long-term business engagement in the country.

The investment residency programme provides foreign investors and entrepreneurs with renewable residency cards valid for 5 or 10 years, depending on the level of investment. The programme has been instrumental in encouraging foreign capital inflows, creating jobs, and supporting Oman’s broader Vision 2040 goals. Key sectors seeing growth from these investors include real estate, manufacturing, logistics, and tourism.

Officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion noted that the growing number of applicants reflects global confidence in Oman’s economic reforms and investment-friendly regulatory environment. The residency cards not only provide foreign investors with legal residence but also offer access to banking, education, and healthcare services for their families, fostering a deeper sense of belonging and stability.

Increased uptake of the long-term residency cards demonstrates the Sultanate’s strategic commitment to positioning itself as a regional hub for sustainable investment. As the programme evolves, Oman is expected to further refine eligibility criteria and digitalize procedures, ensuring an efficient and transparent experience for global investors while driving national economic resilience.
