Oman Embassy In Jakarta Issues Recruitment Warning

MUSCAT: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Jakarta has officially advised all Omani citizens to refrain from dealing with recruitment agencies in Indonesia when seeking to hire domestic workers. This directive comes amid rising concerns regarding unauthorized practices and legal complications that may arise from unregulated recruitment activities. The embassy stressed the importance of adhering to official and recognized channels to ensure both legal compliance and the safety of all parties involved.

According to the advisory, the embassy has received numerous reports and complaints concerning fraudulent contracts and exploitation tied to unofficial recruitment offices operating within Indonesia. Such issues have led to various legal and financial problems for employers as well as risks to the rights and wellbeing of recruited domestic workers. The embassy emphasized that avoiding these offices is crucial to safeguarding the integrity of the hiring process.

The embassy’s statement serves as a proactive step to protect citizens from falling victim to scams or contractual disputes. Omani authorities are working closely with their Indonesian counterparts to address these irregularities and to provide updated procedures that ensure transparency and legality in labor recruitment. Officials have reiterated that ignoring this advisory could result in serious repercussions for both citizens and recruited individuals.

Omanis looking to hire domestic help from abroad are urged to consult the Ministry of Labour or accredited recruitment agencies within Oman. The embassy also encouraged citizens to reach out directly for guidance or clarification before initiating any employment procedures in Indonesia. This move aligns with Oman’s commitment to fair labor practices and international cooperation in protecting worker rights.
