Oman Airports See Two Percent Increase In June Traffic

MUSCAT: Oman Airports reported a 2 percent year-on-year rise in passenger numbers for June 2025, with total travelers exceeding 1.13 million across all facilities. Muscat International Airport handled the majority of this traffic, reflecting its role as the primary gateway for both international and domestic flights. Salalah Airport and Khasab Airport also contributed to the overall increase, showcasing growing demand in regional and seasonal routes.

Airport management attributes the uptick to a combination of expanded flight schedules, the introduction of new carriers, and targeted marketing initiatives aimed at key source markets. Enhanced partnerships with Gulf and South Asian airlines have diversified route options, while promotional campaigns in Europe and the Far East have attracted leisure travelers. These efforts have been complemented by streamlined check-in processes and upgraded terminal amenities, improving the overall passenger experience.

Despite challenging global economic conditions, Oman’s aviation sector has demonstrated resilience by focusing on service quality and operational efficiency. Investments in digital solutions, such as automated baggage handling and mobile boarding passes, have reduced wait times and operational bottlenecks. Safety and hygiene protocols, maintained at high standards since the pandemic, continue to reassure travelers and encourage repeat visits.

Looking ahead, Oman Airports plans further infrastructure enhancements, including runway extensions and terminal expansions to accommodate future traffic growth. The authority is also exploring sustainability measures—such as solar energy installations and carbon-offset programs—to align with international environmental targets. Continued collaboration with tourism stakeholders and regional carriers is expected to sustain this growth trajectory into the peak travel seasons of late 2025 and beyond.
