Oman Air To Join Oneworld Alliance On June 30

MUSCAT: Oman Air will officially become a full member of the Oneworld Alliance on June 30, marking the successful conclusion of a nearly three-year integration process. During this period, the carrier has aligned its loyalty programme with the alliance’s common framework, upgraded its IT infrastructure to enable seamless booking and baggage tracking, and harmonized scheduling and code-share arrangements with partner airlines. The completion of these technical and operational milestones positions Oman Air to offer its customers fully interconnected services from day one of membership.

Con Korfiatis, speaking to the Observer, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming milestone, noting that the alliance membership will substantially widen Oman Air’s global footprint. He highlighted that while Oman Air cannot operate flights to every corner of the world independently, collaboration with Oneworld’s network of carriers will grant passengers access to hundreds of additional destinations. He emphasized that “this alliance will significantly expand our network reach through partnerships with other airlines,” underscoring the strategic value of code-share agreements and joint ventures.

For passengers, joining Oneworld promises enhanced convenience and value. Frequent flyers will benefit from reciprocal tier status recognition, lounge access across major airports, and the ability to earn and redeem miles on a broad portfolio of partner airlines. Seamless check-in, through-checked baggage, and coordinated customer service protocols will simplify connections and reduce transit times. These improvements aim to elevate the overall travel experience for both leisure and business travelers using Oman Air and its alliance partners.

Strategically, this development aligns with Oman’s broader economic and tourism objectives under Vision 2040, as the nation seeks to attract more international visitors and strengthen its global linkages. Oman Air’s Oneworld membership will reinforce Muscat’s role as a regional aviation hub, support growth in inbound and outbound traffic, and contribute to the diversification of the national economy. As of June 30, passengers flying on Oman Air will enjoy the full benefits of a leading global alliance, reflecting the airline’s evolution into a world-class carrier.
