WORLD: Nine flights have been arranged to transport Omani football fans to Kuwait on Saturday to support the Red Warriors in their final match against Bahrain in the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) coordinated with public and private sector companies to make this possible. The Oman Football Association (OFA) has also secured more than 20,000 tickets to ensure maximum support for the national team in this crucial match.
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has announced its participation by operating a special flight exclusively for its employees to cheer for the Omani team. This initiative highlights the widespread enthusiasm and collective effort from various sectors in Oman to back the national football team. Such arrangements showcase the country’s solidarity in supporting its athletes and their endeavors on international stages.
The Omani team, led by coach Rashid Jaber, reached the final after an impressive 2-1 victory against Saudi Arabia, one of the region’s strongest teams. Oman has a history of reaching the Gulf Cup finals six times, winning twice in the 19th and 23rd editions. Despite setbacks in previous finals, the team is focused on the present challenge and determined to clinch the championship this year.
Coach Jaber emphasized the importance of focusing on the game ahead rather than dwelling on past records. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, he acknowledged Bahrain as a formidable opponent and highlighted the need for respect and preparation. Confident in his team’s readiness, Jaber expressed hope that the Red Warriors would bring the Cup home, uniting fans and players in the pursuit of glory.
