New Delhi Railway Stampede Leaves 15 Dead, Several Injured

NEW DELHI: A tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station has claimed the lives of 15 people, including three children, and left ten others injured. The incident took place on platforms 14 and 15 following the sudden cancellation of two trains bound for Prayagraj, leading to panic and chaos among passengers. The Chief Casualty Medical Officer at LNJP Hospital confirmed the casualties, as authorities rushed to respond to the disaster.

Eyewitnesses reported that the overcrowded platforms became unmanageable as hundreds of passengers, frustrated by the cancellations, attempted to secure alternate travel options. In the confusion, people began pushing, causing a devastating rush that led to multiple individuals being trampled. Several of the injured, including four women, were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

The stampede, which occurred around 9:55 pm, prompted an immediate emergency response. Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene, and authorities deployed four fire tenders to assist in relief efforts. The Delhi Fire Services Chief, Atul Garg, stated that emergency personnel worked tirelessly to clear the platform and provide aid to the victims.

In the aftermath, railway officials have pledged to investigate the circumstances that led to the tragedy and implement measures to prevent future occurrences. Passenger safety concerns have been raised, with calls for better crowd management and timely communication regarding train cancellations to avoid such catastrophic events in the future.
