Nabat Combines AI and Drones for Ecological Restoration in UAE.

DUBAI: Launched by the Abu Dhabi-based Advanced Technology Research Council’s (ATRC) VentureOne, the Nabat initiative merges artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and ecological expertise to transform conservation strategies. Developed by the Technology Innovation Institute, Nabat uses a data-driven approach that customizes solutions for specific ecosystems, ensuring efficient and sustainable restoration efforts.

At the core of Nabat’s innovation are autonomous drones and precision mapping technologies, which enable targeted seeding and monitoring while minimizing disturbances to delicate habitats. This cutting-edge method contrasts with traditional techniques, ensuring seeds are planted in locations where they have the highest potential to flourish, thus protecting the UAE’s coastlines and biodiversity.

Mangroves, known for their critical role in combating climate change and protecting coastlines, are the primary focus of the initiative. With its first planting season successfully completed, Nabat has already demonstrated promising results, setting the stage for broader expansion. In partnership with government entities, the project aims to restore thousands of hectares of mangroves across the UAE in the coming years.

Nabat’s focus is on providing scalable and sustainable solutions for environmental restoration, enhancing biodiversity, and contributing to global efforts to combat climate change. By integrating advanced technologies with ecological conservation, the initiative is paving the way for innovative, future-oriented approaches to environmental challenges in the UAE and beyond.
