MUSCAT: The Municipality of Muscat has launched the third edition of a comprehensive traffic study aimed at enhancing the city’s road network and addressing the growing transportation challenges. This extensive study, which has been awarded to the international consulting firm Dar Al-Handasah, will last for 433 days. The initiative is part of Muscat’s ongoing commitment to improving traffic management and providing efficient solutions for the city’s infrastructure needs.
The traffic study will involve an in-depth analysis of multiple aspects of Muscat’s traffic system. The municipality regularly conducts such studies to ensure that the city’s road network meets the demands of its expanding population and increasing economic activities. By assessing current traffic conditions, the study will provide crucial insights into how to improve the flow of traffic, reduce congestion, and make transportation more efficient for residents and visitors alike.
As part of the evaluation, the study will focus on areas generating significant traffic due to urban expansion and economic activity. These areas are expected to be critical points of focus as the study aims to identify potential congestion hotspots. By pinpointing these issues, the study will provide the necessary data to propose effective solutions that can alleviate congestion and improve overall traffic conditions in Muscat.
Furthermore, the results of the study will be integrated into the city’s short-, medium-, and long-term development plans. This integration will ensure that the city’s transportation solutions are not only responsive to current traffic conditions but are also sustainable for future growth. By addressing these challenges proactively, Muscat Municipality aims to create a smoother, more efficient transportation system to support the city’s expansion and economic development.
