MUSCAT: The Directorate General of Education for Muscat Governorate has issued a firm statement addressing a recent rumour that circulated widely across social media platforms. The authority confirmed that the information being spread was entirely false and had no basis in official fact. The rumour, which concerned school operations and alleged administrative decisions, prompted unnecessary confusion and concern among students, parents, and education staff.
In its official response, the Directorate emphasized the importance of verifying information through credible and official channels before sharing it. The statement highlighted that spreading baseless claims disrupts the educational environment and undermines the trust between the public and educational institutions. It warned that such acts are not taken lightly and pose risks to the safety and stability of the learning community.
The Directorate has also announced that legal measures will be taken against those who participated in spreading the rumour, in accordance with the laws and regulations governing digital conduct and defamation in Oman. It reiterated that protecting the reputation and integrity of the education sector is a shared responsibility and that misinformation campaigns will be met with appropriate action.
Furthermore, the Directorate urged all stakeholders—including parents, students, and the wider community—to rely solely on verified announcements from the Ministry of Education or the Directorate itself. It assured the public of its ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and the smooth running of educational operations in Muscat Governorate.
