Ministry Of Labour Urges Early Action For Professional Accreditation

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Labour in Oman has issued a strong advisory to all companies and workers to initiate procedures for obtaining the Professional Classification Certificate and the Professional Practice License well ahead of time. Authorities emphasize beginning these processes at least one to two months prior to the expiry of an expatriate worker’s residence card or an Omani worker’s employment contract to ensure smooth and timely compliance. This proactive approach is aligned with previous sector-specific announcements, aiming to streamline verification, issuance, and prevent any administrative or legal complications.

Early action is critical to avoiding unnecessary delays and financial penalties that may arise from late submissions. Companies that comply in advance can ensure uninterrupted contract renewals and continuity of business operations without the risk of violations. Moreover, early preparation enhances organizational efficiency, allowing HR departments and management teams to manage worker accreditation systematically, maintaining compliance with government regulations and professional standards.

The Ministry highlights that professional accreditation is not only a legal requirement but also a commitment to maintaining high standards in the workplace. For companies operating in the logistics, energy, and minerals sectors, obtaining the Professional Practice License ensures operational readiness and adherence to industry norms. Similarly, workers in engineering, accounting, finance, and legal sectors are encouraged to secure the Professional Classification Certificate, which validates their qualifications and enables them to perform their duties legally and professionally.

Authorities stress that this initiative promotes a culture of professionalism and preparedness across all sectors. By acting early, businesses and workers can minimize administrative burdens, foster smoother operational processes, and maintain compliance with regulatory frameworks. The Ministry of Labour continues to monitor the implementation of these requirements and provides guidance to ensure all stakeholders are equipped to meet professional accreditation obligations efficiently and effectively.
