MUSCAT: The Military Technological College (MTC) in Muscat is currently welcoming its latest batch of female general diploma students, who have been accepted through the Higher Education Admission Centre under the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. These students are undergoing the required admission procedures, which include written examinations, medical assessments, and personal interviews. This intake marks another step in the college’s effort to expand opportunities for both male and female students, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to Oman’s higher education and technical training sector.
For the current academic year, the MTC has opened admissions for both genders in its programmes without employment opportunities attached. In an effort to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment, the college has arranged on-campus housing for male students and dedicated transportation services for female students. This arrangement aims to address logistical needs and ensure that all students can fully participate in their studies and campus life, regardless of their location or personal circumstances.
The MTC’s educational model is designed to meet the demands of Oman’s job market by producing highly qualified national talent. Students enrolled in the programmes can earn a bachelor’s degree, while those who do not meet the academic requirements for graduation are eligible for an advanced diploma after completing three years of specialised engineering studies. This flexible academic structure ensures that graduates, whether holding a degree or diploma, are well-prepared to enter the workforce and contribute to national development.
The academic pathway at the MTC begins with a foundational year covering English, mathematics, physics, and computer science, which equips students with the necessary skills for their chosen engineering specialisations. Practical training plays a vital role in the curriculum, with students gaining hands-on experience in laboratories and workshops aligned with their fields of study. Specialisation assignments are determined by students’ preferences and their general education diploma results, ensuring that their training is tailored to their strengths and career aspirations.
