Khazaen Economic City Signs Agreement for Vaccine Factory

KHAZAEN: Khazaen Economic City, in collaboration with the Medical and Educational Supplies Technology Company, has signed a significant agreement valued at over RO 15 million. The agreement marks the establishment of a new factory dedicated to the production of millions of animal vaccines, a move that is expected to bolster Oman’s healthcare and agricultural sectors. This partnership aims to address the growing demand for high-quality vaccines for livestock, ensuring that the nation can meet both local and regional needs efficiently.

The new facility will be a state-of-the-art production plant equipped with cutting-edge technology. It will focus on manufacturing vaccines that are crucial for the prevention of diseases in animals, thereby improving animal health and productivity. This initiative is part of a larger strategy to strengthen Oman’s healthcare infrastructure and reduce dependency on imported vaccines, which often come with higher costs and longer supply chain times. The factory will also play a key role in supporting the agricultural sector’s sustainability.

The partnership between Khazaen Economic City and the Medical and Educational Supplies Technology Company is expected to create numerous job opportunities for Omanis. By investing in local production capabilities, the project aims to foster the growth of skilled labor and promote the development of specialized expertise in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. This initiative aligns with Oman’s Vision 2040, which seeks to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on oil exports by focusing on sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and technology.

In addition to enhancing national production capacity, the factory will have the potential to serve as a regional hub for vaccine distribution. The strategic location of Khazaen Economic City, coupled with the modern infrastructure and logistical facilities, positions it as an ideal center for the production and distribution of vaccines across the GCC and beyond. This project is a significant step towards securing Oman’s position as a leader in the regional healthcare and agricultural industries.
