Housemaids Arrested For Violent Robbery In Al Qabil

MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced the arrest of two housemaids involved in a violent assault and robbery targeting a housewife in the Wilayat of Al Qabil. According to the official statement, the suspects attacked the victim using bladed weapons, restrained her, and stole gold jewellery, cash, and a mobile phone before fleeing the crime scene. This alarming incident raised concerns about domestic safety and the role of criminal networks in aiding such crimes within Oman.

Following the attack, the suspects managed to escape and were later traced to the Wilayat of Al Seeb, where they were apprehended in a coordinated operation involving multiple police units. Investigators confirmed that the maids were not acting alone, as they received assistance from three accomplices of different nationalities. These individuals reportedly helped transport the suspects and facilitated the disposal of the stolen valuables at undisclosed locations, making the investigation more complex for authorities.

The North Al Sharqiyah Police Command worked in close coordination with the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations to track the movements of the accused. Advanced surveillance methods and intelligence sharing played a critical role in identifying the escape route and uncovering the network involved. The ROP emphasized that such cases are treated with the utmost seriousness to maintain public safety and trust.

Legal procedures are currently underway against all those involved in the crime. The ROP has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities immediately. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of background checks for domestic workers and reinforces the need for strong security measures within households. The successful arrest of the suspects demonstrates the effectiveness of ROP’s rapid response and collaboration between different police units to combat organized crimes.
