Global Relief As Meta Platforms Restore Services After Outage

Late Wednesday, users of WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook across the globe, including in Muscat, were relieved as Meta resolved a significant outage. The disruption, described by Meta as a “technical issue,” had peaked with over 23,900 users affected globally, leaving many unable to send messages or access their favorite platforms.

Meta addressed the situation on X, announcing, “We’re 99% of the way there—just doing some last checks.” The outage primarily affected Facebook app users, with 72% reporting issues, while WhatsApp and Instagram faced widespread interruptions as well.

By evening, functionality had been restored for most regions, bringing much-needed relief to users in Oman and worldwide. The swift response showcased Meta’s dedication to maintaining seamless service, despite the widespread challenges encountered during the outage.
