MUSCAT: Dubai International Airport (DXB) has once again claimed the prestigious title of the World’s Busiest International Airport, welcoming a remarkable 92.3 million passengers in 2024, according to a report released by Airports Council International (ACI) World. This milestone solidifies Dubai’s position as a global aviation leader and showcases its ongoing dominance in the international travel sector. The airport has now held onto the top spot for two consecutive years, outpacing some of the world’s busiest and most renowned airports.
Despite the global challenges faced by the aviation industry, including fluctuating travel restrictions and economic uncertainties, Dubai International’s performance has remained strong. The impressive passenger traffic is a testament to the airport’s resilience and its ability to handle significant volumes of travelers without compromising quality or efficiency. This achievement also highlights the strategic importance of DXB as a key hub for international business, tourism, and connectivity.
Trailing Dubai’s DXB in the rankings were some of the world’s most prominent airports. London’s Heathrow Airport, Seoul’s Incheon International, Singapore Changi, and Amsterdam Schiphol secured spots in the top five. Other airports like Paris Charles de Gaulle, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Doha rounded out the top ten, further reflecting the competitive nature of the global aviation industry. Each of these airports plays a vital role in facilitating international trade and travel, helping to connect people and businesses across continents.
ACI World’s Director General, Justin Erbacci, praised the resilience of the world’s busiest airports, emphasizing that despite the challenges, these airports continue to thrive. “These hubs are crucial lifelines for global trade, business, and connectivity,” he said. The report serves as a reminder of the vital role airports like DXB play in the global economy and the continued growth of international air travel.
