MUSCAT: Dr. Laila Al Nadhari, Minister of Social Development, recently met with His Excellency Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, and a team of key officials to discuss strengthening partnerships among governmental, private, and civil institutions. The focus of the meeting was to highlight the role of social development committees and charitable teams in addressing societal needs and supporting vulnerable families. Emphasis was placed on improving the coordination between various sectors to better serve the community and enhance the delivery of social services.
The discussions also explored strategies to foster family cohesion and enhance the support provided to individuals with disabilities. Dr. Laila underscored the importance of effective communication and collaboration between the ministry, local authorities, and partner organizations. This would ensure that targeted programs and services are efficiently delivered to those who need them the most, ensuring no one is left behind. The role of institutional support in facilitating these initiatives was also highlighted.
As part of her visit, Dr. Laila toured several key facilities in the region, including the Al Wafa Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Nizwa. This visit provided a firsthand look at the services offered to children with disabilities and the elderly, allowing Dr. Laila to assess the challenges and opportunities in improving care for these groups. She also visited the General Directorate of Social Development to review ongoing projects aimed at uplifting underprivileged families in the region.
Dr. Laila continued her tour in Adam and Jabal Al Akhdar, where she personally visited residences of beneficiaries to listen to their concerns and suggestions. She also met employees with disabilities working at a hotel in Jabal Al Akhdar, engaging in discussions about their experiences in the workforce and exploring solutions to challenges they face. Throughout the visit, Dr. Laila reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to improving services and ensuring greater inclusion for all segments of society.
