Digital Program Tahawul Sees Major Performance Growth

MUSCAT: Oman’s National Program for Digital Transformation, known as Tahawul, has achieved a significant milestone with an 80% increase in overall performance by the end of May 2025. Launched in 2021, the program is part of the country’s Vision 2040 strategy and aims to modernize government services, enhance digital infrastructure, and stimulate innovation across public and private sectors. This sharp uptick in performance reflects accelerated implementation, improved coordination, and growing adoption of digital solutions nationwide.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Tahawul’s advancements are evident in the completion of several high-impact initiatives, including the integration of digital platforms across ministries, development of electronic services, and stronger data governance mechanisms. These initiatives have helped reduce bureaucracy, cut service delivery times, and improve user satisfaction rates. Enhanced inter-agency collaboration and agile project management approaches have also played a central role.

The 80% performance boost suggests that Oman is on track to achieve its 2025 digital transformation targets. The government has also placed strong emphasis on cybersecurity, digital skills development, and partnerships with tech providers to future-proof the nation’s digital journey. Tahawul’s dashboard-based monitoring system has enabled better tracking of progress and timely resolution of challenges, leading to faster execution and impact measurement.

Looking ahead, authorities plan to expand the scope of Tahawul to include more AI-driven solutions, cloud services, and integrated digital ecosystems. The focus will remain on delivering citizen-centric digital experiences, promoting e-governance, and supporting the private sector in embracing emerging technologies. With continued investment and commitment, Oman aims to position itself as a digitally empowered and competitive nation in the region.
