DBBS Announces Temporary Suspension of Blood Donations for Maintenance

MUSCAT: The Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS) in Muscat has officially announced a temporary suspension of blood donation services at the Central Blood Bank in Bousher, starting Monday, December 23, 2024. This suspension is due to the necessary maintenance and expansion work on the Blood Bank Services Department building. The upgrade aims to enhance the facility’s infrastructure to meet increasing demands and improve the quality of services provided to the public.

The DBBS has emphasized that the suspension will only be temporary, with operations set to resume as usual on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. During this period, essential repairs and improvements will be carried out to ensure the department’s long-term efficiency. The temporary closure is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to enhance its services, making them more accessible and efficient for donors and patients in need of blood.

Although the Bousher location will be closed, the DBBS assured the public that other blood donation centers will remain operational. Donors are encouraged to visit alternative centers to ensure that the blood supply remains stable during this brief pause in service. The DBBS continues to prioritize the health and safety of the community, with plans to resume normal operations as soon as the upgrades are completed.

The department also thanked the public for their continued support and cooperation. By investing in infrastructure improvements, the DBBS aims to provide better services in the future, ensuring a reliable and sustainable blood supply for hospitals and clinics across Oman. The department reminded potential donors of the importance of regular donations to help maintain an adequate blood reserve for those in need.
