Consumer Protection Authority Reminds Shoppers of Rights

MUSCAT: The Consumer Protection Authority of Oman is reminding shoppers of their rights regarding exchanges, returns, and refunds. Consumers in the Sultanate have up to 15 days from the date of purchase to exchange or return items, ensuring peace of mind for buyers.

If the item is defective, doesn’t meet standard specifications, or fails to serve the intended purpose, customers are entitled to a replacement or full refund with proof of purchase. However, perishable goods are excluded from this policy and cannot be returned or exchanged. The reminder aims to empower consumers and ensure fair practices in the market.

The Consumer Protection Authority encourages buyers to familiarize themselves with their rights to ensure they are fully protected when making purchases. It also highlights the importance of retaining receipts and proof of purchase, as these are necessary to facilitate the exchange or refund process.

This initiative reflects the commitment of the Consumer Protection Authority to uphold consumer rights and promote a transparent and trustworthy retail environment in Oman.
