Comex 2025 Deal Boosts Oman’s Digital Economy Vision

MUSCAT: The agreement signed during the Comex Global Technology Exhibition 2025 marks a significant milestone in Oman’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of advanced digital solutions across government and private sectors. It aims to strengthen the national economy, improve the quality of life for employees, and create a more efficient and inclusive corporate environment. This move aligns with the Sultanate’s long-term strategy of transforming into a competitive digital economy, underscoring the importance of innovation and technology in achieving sustainable development goals.

The agreement, signed by His Excellency Sayyid Salim bin Muslim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Human Resources Development at the Ministry of Labour, and Engineer Majid bin Fayel Al Amri, Founder and CEO of Thawani, reflects the government’s commitment to deepening partnerships with the private sector. This collaboration represents a model for how public institutions and private enterprises can work together to deliver high-impact digital services. It also illustrates Oman’s focus on harnessing technology to empower citizens and support the nation’s economic diversification agenda.

More than 210,000 government employees and their families are set to benefit from this initiative, which will provide exclusive offers and services across key sectors. Thawani will develop secure, user-friendly digital mechanisms to deliver these benefits effectively, including real-time tracking, detailed reporting, and transparent performance measurement systems. Such features will help ensure that the services are not only accessible but also efficient, measurable, and tailored to the needs of users.

According to His Excellency Sayyid Al Busaidi, this partnership embodies an advanced level of collaboration between the public and private sectors in building a dynamic digital economy. It is in line with global trends that emphasize inclusivity, sustainability, and the empowerment of small and medium enterprises. Engineer Majid Al Amri added that this initiative strengthens Oman’s position as a leader in the regional digital economy and underlines the strategic necessity of embracing technology to drive growth, competitiveness, and opportunities for entrepreneurship. The ‘Ejada’ system, already implemented by the Ministry of Labour, will complement this effort by measuring and enhancing government employee performance, ensuring accountability and improved outcomes.
