OMAN: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a weather report cautioning residents and travelers in Oman about the expected arrival of northwesterly winds. This weather activity is set to affect various regions of the country from January 18 to January 21, 2025. The CAA advised that these winds may cause a noticeable drop in temperatures, especially during the evenings and early mornings.
In addition to the drop in temperature, the winds could also lead to reduced visibility in certain areas due to dust and sand particles being carried by the gusts. As the wind intensity picks up, there may be disruptions in outdoor activities and transportation, particularly in regions that are prone to desert dust storms. The CAA strongly recommends that those planning to travel in these areas be cautious, especially when driving in low-visibility conditions.
The northwesterly winds will affect both coastal and inland areas, so residents living near the coasts as well as those in desert regions should prepare for potentially rough weather conditions. Fishermen and those engaged in marine activities should be particularly mindful, as the winds may lead to rough seas and hazardous conditions at sea. The CAA has advised the public to monitor the weather updates regularly and to follow any safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
As a precautionary measure, the CAA suggests that people take extra care while traveling and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during the peak hours of wind activity. Those with respiratory issues should consider staying indoors during the most intense wind conditions to avoid discomfort or health risks.
