MUSCAT: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth has officially launched the ‘Barmajan’ Digital Transformation Hackathon, drawing the participation of 105 individuals divided into 28 competing teams. The event is designed to accelerate innovation in digital solutions by bringing together developers, programmers, UI/UX designers, and business analysts under one collaborative platform. Held in line with Oman Vision 2040, the hackathon aims to promote creativity and problem-solving in the digital sector.
Each team in Barmajan is tasked with developing functional prototypes and presenting ideas that address real challenges facing Oman’s public and private sectors. These challenges span key areas such as digital service automation, user experience improvement, youth engagement, and cultural content delivery. The hackathon format includes mentoring sessions, pitch presentations, and final evaluations by expert panels drawn from the tech and innovation sectors.
According to the Ministry, Barmajan provides young Omani talent with a unique opportunity to showcase their technical abilities while contributing to the broader digital transformation agenda. By fostering collaboration across multiple disciplines, the event helps bridge the gap between technology and service delivery, encouraging sustainable and scalable solutions that align with national priorities.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to supporting innovation ecosystems and creating platforms where youth-led ideas can thrive. Winners of the hackathon will receive development support, recognition, and potential opportunities for further incubation.
