Ajman Police Announce Road Closure for Half Marathon Event

Ajman Police have announced a full closure of Al-Safiya Street to accommodate the route for the 5th Amina Hospital – Ajman Half Marathon. This closure will occur on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 6:00 am to 8:00 am. Road users are urged to cooperate and use alternative routes to help ensure the smooth operation of the event. A map of the affected area has been provided by the authorities to guide motorists.

The event is one of the emirate’s most significant sports occasions and will be held at Al Safia Park. The marathon features a main 21.1 km course, designed for serious athletes, along with three shorter distances—10 km, 5 km, and 2.6 km—to accommodate participants of all ages and skill levels. The race is part of Ajman’s efforts to promote sports and tourism, as well as to encourage physical activity among the public.

A substantial prize pool of Dh24,000 is available for the marathon winners. Both open and Emirati categories for men and women will be contested, with the goal of making the event inclusive for all runners. The marathon’s success is expected to draw more attention to Ajman’s sports scene and strengthen the emirate’s reputation as a hub for sporting events and tourism.

The road closure marks the culmination of a successful year for Ajman’s Tourism Development Department. Throughout 2024, the department has worked to elevate the city’s profile in sports and tourism. The marathon not only serves as a key event but also as an example of the department’s commitment to fostering a culture of health, sportsmanship, and tourism within the emirate.
