Dense Fog Expected On Abu Dhabi Roads, Motorists Cautioned

DUBAI: Motorists in Abu Dhabi are being urged to exercise extra caution today due to dense fog conditions expected to persist in some areas until 9 am. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued red and yellow weather alerts, indicating that low visibility will be a significant concern in these areas. Madinat Zayed and Al Ghuwaifat, located in the Al Dhafra region, have already experienced dense fog this morning, making travel conditions challenging for drivers.

In response to the foggy conditions, Abu Dhabi Police issued a safety warning on social media. The advisory emphasized that, during periods of low visibility, the maximum speed limit on Abu Dhabi roads has been reduced to 80 km/h. Drivers are strongly encouraged to adhere to this limit to ensure their safety and that of other road users. The warning serves as a crucial reminder for motorists to adjust their driving behavior when navigating through such hazardous conditions.

Alongside the fog, weather conditions across the UAE are expected to be partly cloudy in some areas, with rainfall affecting the Eastern, Northern, and coastal regions. The NCM also cautioned residents with dust allergies to take necessary precautions, as light to moderate winds are expected to cause the blowing of dust and sand, potentially aggravating allergy symptoms for those outdoors. These weather conditions, combined with fog, will require people to be particularly vigilant while traveling or engaging in outdoor activities.

Temperature highs throughout the country are forecasted to range from 24°C to 28°C, with lows averaging between 8°C and 14°C. Coastal areas will experience slightly warmer conditions, with temperatures between 23°C and 27°C, while the mountainous regions will see cooler temperatures ranging from 6°C to 11°C. The humidity levels in the coastal areas are expected to be moderate, between 65% and 90%, while the mountainous regions will experience lower humidity levels, ranging from 55% to 75%. Additionally, the sea is expected to be slight to moderate, with the possibility of becoming rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea due to cloud cover.
