MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman has been awarded the prestigious Regional Champions Award by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) after making a historic leap in the 2025 Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD). For the first time, Oman secured its position among the world’s most advanced postal service providers, ranked eighth globally and first in the Arab region. The recognition was presented at the 28th UPU Congress, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 8–19 September 2025, cementing Oman’s leadership in digital transformation and logistics.
This achievement reflects Oman’s international recognition in embracing digital transformation while strengthening its logistics and e-commerce sectors. The 2IPD ranking is based on four main pillars: reliability, access, relevance, and resilience, measured through big data analysis, official statistics, and comprehensive surveys. These indicators give the index strong international credibility, making it a trusted tool for policy development and postal sector planning. Oman’s recognition demonstrates its ability to translate digital and operational strategies into tangible results that meet both regional and global standards.
The success is largely the outcome of coordinated national efforts led by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, which has introduced forward-looking policies and executed ambitious programs in line with Oman Vision 2040. In addition, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has played a vital role in establishing a competitive and sustainable regulatory environment. This framework has allowed Oman Post, the national operator, to expand its services, modernize operations, and align with the demands of digital transformation and new logistics trends.
On both a regional and global scale, Oman’s achievement strengthens its standing in the postal and logistics sector, reflecting the effectiveness of national policies and long-term strategies. The award underscores Oman’s growing reputation as a leader in postal innovation, digital infrastructure, and service reliability. By enhancing the efficiency of its postal network, supporting the national economy, and fostering e-commerce growth, Oman continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence, modernization, and global competitiveness.
