Dibba–Lima–Khasab Road Closed For Rock Blasting Works

DIBBA: Controlled rock blasting operations have officially begun on the Dibba–Lima–Khasab Road as part of ongoing development and safety improvements. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology confirmed that the implementing company started blasting activities on August 31, 2025. These operations are necessary to remove loose debris and accumulated rubble along the road, ensuring the safety of motorists while advancing the project’s construction schedule. Authorities highlighted that these measures are vital to preventing accidents caused by falling rocks, which pose a persistent danger in mountainous areas.

To guarantee public safety during the blasting, full road closures have been scheduled twice daily from Sunday to Thursday. The morning closure runs from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by an evening closure from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. These closures are strictly enforced to allow blasting and cleanup operations to proceed without risking the safety of road users. Officials explained that the timing was carefully chosen to balance public convenience with operational requirements, aiming to reduce disruption while ensuring smooth progress of the works.

The ministry has urged all travelers and road users to comply with the announced closure times and exercise patience during this temporary inconvenience. By respecting these safety measures, residents and commuters help protect both themselves and the construction teams working on-site. Authorities stressed that while such closures may cause delays, they are a short-term necessity to achieve long-term safety and infrastructure goals. The ministry also assured the public that updates on the project will be communicated regularly to keep the community informed.

The Dibba–Lima–Khasab Road is regarded as one of Musandam’s most significant infrastructure projects, designed to strengthen connectivity between remote communities, stimulate economic activity, and support tourism growth. Upon completion, the road will provide safer and more efficient travel across the governorate, offering improved access to services, trade opportunities, and scenic destinations. The controlled blasting phase represents a critical milestone, ensuring the project advances while maintaining the highest levels of public safety.
