MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso during an official meeting at the Presidential Palace in Ouagadougou. The message was delivered by His Excellency Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), who led the Omani delegation as part of an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. The visit reflects Oman’s commitment to fostering stronger diplomatic and economic relationships with African countries as part of its broader international engagement strategy.

During the meeting, both sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation across various sectors, with a strong emphasis on economy and investment. Oman and Burkina Faso expressed their mutual desire to enhance trade exchange, encourage joint ventures, and explore potential partnerships in areas such as agriculture, mining, and infrastructure development. These discussions align with Oman’s diversification efforts under Oman Vision 2040 and Burkina Faso’s strategic goals for sustainable development, highlighting opportunities for both nations to benefit from each other’s strengths and resources.

The dialogue underscored the importance of mutual understanding and long-term collaboration to achieve shared economic goals. Officials from both countries agreed on the need to establish frameworks that facilitate investment and create favorable conditions for business partnerships. This includes the possibility of signing agreements in the future that would enhance legal, financial, and logistical frameworks to support bilateral trade and investment initiatives. Such steps are expected to strengthen economic ties and create job opportunities, benefiting both Omani and Burkinabé communities.

The visit by the OIA Chairman also serves as a signal of Oman’s strategic interest in engaging with emerging markets across Africa. By exploring cooperation with Burkina Faso, Oman aims to diversify its economic partnerships beyond traditional markets while contributing to regional stability and development. The meeting concluded with optimism from both sides, reaffirming their shared commitment to deepen diplomatic relations and translate discussions into actionable projects that serve the mutual interests of the two countries and their people.
