Muscat Stock Exchange Trading Value Surges Significantly

MUSCAT: The Muscat Stock Exchange witnessed a remarkable increase in trading activity, with the total value of trades reaching RO 33.6 million, up sharply by 40.1 percent compared to the previous session’s RO 23.98 million. This surge reflects heightened investor confidence and active market participation, signaling a strong appetite for equities among both individual and institutional investors. Analysts suggest that a combination of positive corporate news, attractive valuations, and regional market trends contributed to the robust trading performance observed today.

Overall market capitalization also showed an upward trajectory, rising by 0.411 percent to reach approximately RO 29.77 billion. This growth indicates a broad-based positive sentiment across multiple sectors, with investors responding favorably to recent economic indicators and strategic developments within listed companies. The increase in market value underscores a resilient trading environment despite ongoing regional and global economic uncertainties, highlighting the MSX’s continued role as a stable and attractive investment platform.

Foreign investor activity played a notable role in today’s market dynamics, with non-Omani purchases totaling RO 1.987 million, representing 5.91 percent of total trades. This level of foreign participation reflects sustained international interest in Omani equities, particularly in sectors offering growth potential and stable returns. Investors from outside Oman appear to be strategically positioning themselves to benefit from both market opportunities and government initiatives aimed at strengthening economic diversification and investment attractiveness.

Meanwhile, non-Omani sales amounted to RO 2.511 million, or 7.47 percent of total trades, leading to a net outflow of RO 524,000, equivalent to 1.56 percent of the market. This net selling by foreign investors suggests a balanced approach, with some profit-taking alongside ongoing strategic acquisitions. Market experts note that such fluctuations are typical in a healthy market, reflecting normal portfolio adjustments and the dynamic interplay between domestic and international participants, ultimately supporting sustainable market development over the long term.
