MUSCAT: The Ministry has announced the issuance of Ministerial Resolution No. 2025/143, published in Issue No. 1610 of the Official Gazette on Sunday, August 24, 2025. This resolution grants specific employees in North Al Batinah the authority to serve as judicial police officers within their designated jurisdictions. These officials are vested with the responsibility to uphold legal standards and ensure compliance with existing laws and regulations across the governorate, reinforcing the government’s commitment to maintaining order and public welfare.
Under the terms of the resolution, the appointed officers are empowered to enforce the provisions of the Land Law and the Food Safety Law, in addition to the regulations and executive decisions issued under these laws. Their legal mandate also includes the enforcement of Article (168) bis of the Penal Code, providing them with comprehensive authority to address violations effectively and ensure adherence to national standards. This significant step enhances the mechanisms available to address infractions promptly and in accordance with established legal frameworks.
The decision reflects the Ministry’s strategic objective of strengthening local governance through decentralization of enforcement powers. By delegating authority to trained officials on the ground, the resolution aims to streamline legal processes, reduce administrative delays, and improve efficiency in implementing laws that directly impact communities. This proactive measure is expected to result in a more responsive governance model, capable of addressing violations swiftly and preventing legal breaches before they escalate.
Additionally, the empowerment of these officials underscores a broader policy direction towards safeguarding public interests and promoting compliance with critical legal provisions related to land management and food safety. These areas are pivotal to both economic stability and social well-being, and the move signals the government’s determination to ensure high standards in public health, environmental protection, and land use regulation. Through this resolution, the Ministry reinforces its role as a guardian of legal order and a promoter of transparency and accountability within local administrations.
