MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education in Oman has launched an initiative encouraging parents to help their children transition smoothly into the new academic year with enthusiasm and positivity. Titled “For a vibrant and active school year,” the campaign emphasizes the importance of creating a supportive environment at home to nurture a positive mindset. Officials stressed that mental readiness plays a critical role in ensuring students begin the year successfully and adapt to classroom routines without stress or anxiety.
In its message addressed to “Dear Parent,” the Ministry highlighted practical steps for parents to follow. It advised initiating conversations with children about school in an optimistic tone, highlighting the exciting aspects of returning to classrooms, meeting friends, and learning new subjects. Such discussions, according to experts, help reduce apprehension and set the tone for a constructive and confident start to the school term. By shaping a healthy psychological outlook, parents can significantly boost their children’s motivation and performance.
The Ministry also underscored the importance of establishing healthy routines ahead of the first day of school. Parents were encouraged to gradually reintroduce early sleeping and waking habits to ensure children are well-rested and energized. Additionally, involving children in activities like selecting school supplies and organizing study spaces can foster a sense of ownership and excitement. These small steps not only prepare students logistically but also strengthen emotional readiness, which is essential for academic success and well-being throughout the year.
Finally, the Ministry recommended creating a structured study plan together with children to instill discipline and confidence from day one. By engaging students in preparing their learning environment and schedules, parents can help them feel empowered and responsible for their progress. This approach, combined with positive reinforcement and open communication, lays a strong foundation for a productive academic year. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting families in making education a collaborative, motivating, and enjoyable journey for every student in Oman.
