MUSCAT: The Oman Meteorology Department has forecast continued cloud flow across the country, resulting in partly cloudy to cloudy skies in many regions. Coastal areas from Ras Al Hadd to Ras Madrakah are currently experiencing scattered rainfall, with similar conditions expected to persist in the coming hours. The cloud coverage is contributing to enhanced chances of precipitation in several governorates, maintaining a dynamic and changeable weather pattern.
Governorates including South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar are likely to witness sporadic rain showers, adding to the seasonal variability. In Dhofar, the Khareef monsoon remains active, producing intermittent drizzle and occasional rainfall, particularly in coastal areas. These conditions are typical for this period and contribute to cooler temperatures, increased humidity, and the picturesque green landscapes associated with the season.
The forecast also indicates the potential for high to medium cloud advection and isolated rain over other governorates, with convective cloud formation and occasional thundershowers over the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas. Late-night and early-morning fog patches are expected along coastal areas of the Arabian Sea and Oman Sea, while dust may rise over desert and open regions, adding to variable visibility conditions for residents and motorists.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution due to reduced visibility during fog, thundershowers, and dust events, as well as potential downdraft winds and the flow of wadis. Motorists in particular are advised to remain vigilant, drive carefully, and avoid areas prone to flooding or sudden water flow, ensuring safety amid the ongoing seasonal weather activity.
