MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a firm condemnation of the recent assault on a Pakistani military convoy in the Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In an official statement released from Muscat, Omani authorities denounced the act of violence, emphasizing their strong disapproval of any attacks targeting military personnel who are serving to protect national security and regional stability. The statement underscored that such acts of terrorism undermine efforts to foster peace and cooperation among neighboring countries.

Oman extended its deepest condolences to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, expressing heartfelt sympathy to the families who have lost loved ones in the attack. The Ministry conveyed sincere regret over the tragic loss of life, calling for unity and resilience in the face of those who seek to spread fear and discord. In addition, Oman offered its prayers and hopes for the swift and full recovery of all those injured, stressing that the welfare of the victims and their families remains a priority for the Omani people.

The attack in Waziristan comes amid ongoing efforts by Pakistani security forces to counter militant groups that continue to operate in parts of the tribal areas. The convoy had been en route to support local stability and development initiatives when it was struck, highlighting the persistent dangers faced by military and civilian personnel alike. Oman’s statement noted these challenges and reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration in combating terrorism, intelligence sharing, and capacity building to prevent future incidents.

Oman and Pakistan share a long history of cordial relations, rooted in cultural ties, economic cooperation, and mutual respect. The Sultanate reiterated its readiness to stand alongside Pakistan during this difficult period, affirming that such solidarity is essential to overcoming security threats and promoting regional harmony. The Ministry concluded by calling on all stakeholders to redouble efforts toward dialogue, development, and peace-building, ensuring that the tragic events in Waziristan do not derail the collective pursuit of stability in South Asia and beyond.
