MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman has issued an official statement strongly urging for an immediate and comprehensive de-escalation in response to recent military actions by the United States. Oman warned that these actions risk expanding the conflict further and pose a profound threat to regional and global stability at a time when diplomatic engagement is crucial. The government’s call reflects Oman’s longstanding foreign policy stance that favours dialogue and peaceful resolution over the use of force.
According to the statement, Oman expressed deep concern that the escalation not only endangers peace efforts but could also trigger broader instability across the Middle East, undermining security for neighbouring countries and disrupting economic and humanitarian conditions in affected areas. The Sultanate highlighted its belief that sustainable security must be built on mutual respect, constructive negotiations, and adherence to international norms rather than unilateral military interventions.
In its response, Oman emphasised that military operations of this nature constitute a grave violation of international law and contradict the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter. The statement reaffirmed that all nations have the sovereign right to pursue peaceful nuclear programmes within the framework of internationally agreed treaties and safeguards, underscoring the importance of respecting state sovereignty and avoiding provocative measures.
Reiterating its commitment to supporting regional peace and stability, Oman called upon all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint and to prioritise dialogue as the only viable path to lasting solutions. The Sultanate pledged to continue working with international partners to mediate and encourage a return to diplomatic channels that respect legal frameworks and protect the interests of all countries in the region.
