Sharjah Police Launch Relief Initiative For Old Traffic Fines

SHARJAH: Sharjah Police have announced a major initiative to offer relief for more than 600,000 outstanding traffic fines that have been pending for over a decade. This move, issued under the directive of the Sharjah Executive Council, is intended to help clear long-standing fines and vehicle registration issues, allowing motorists to regularize their status efficiently and legally. The initiative particularly targets motorists with expired vehicle registrations, who account for over 44,000 cases, emphasizing the government’s focus on improving administrative efficiency and supporting the public.

Motorists with expired vehicle registrations are urged to take advantage of this opportunity by settling their overdue fines. An application fee of Dh1,000 is applicable for processing the waiver; however, certain exceptions have been made. Vehicle owners who have been absent from the country for a long time or who have established residency abroad may qualify for waivers under specific conditions, ensuring the initiative is fair and accessible.

This strategic plan by Sharjah Police is not only a financial relief opportunity for many residents but also part of broader efforts to enhance road safety and encourage compliance with traffic regulations. By clearing old fines and bringing vehicles back into lawful registration, the emirate aims to foster a safer and more organized traffic environment.

The initiative underscores Sharjah’s commitment to public service improvements and strengthening community trust. It also reflects the emirate’s ongoing drive to modernize public administration and ensure that all residents have pathways to resolve outstanding legal obligations responsibly. Motorists are encouraged to contact Sharjah Police directly to understand the eligibility requirements and application process.
