Dam Maintenance Projects in Al Buraimi Governorate.

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources is leading several key dam maintenance projects in Al Buraimi Governorate, with a total investment of over RO 686,000. These projects aim to enhance water resources, improve groundwater storage, and ensure a sustainable water supply for agriculture in the region.

Engineer Nasser bin Ali Al Marshoudi, Director General of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in Al Buraimi, provided an update on the ongoing works. The Mahdha Dam, with a maintenance cost of RO 407,000, is 20% complete, while the Masilik Dam’s maintenance, at a cost of RO 115,000, is also 20% complete. The Masah Dam is progressing at 30% completion, with a cost of RO 52,000, while the Haywan Dam project, allocated RO 50,000, is 28% complete. Maintenance at Abu Qala Dam is nearing completion, with 86% of the work done, at a cost of RO 8,000. The Al Juwaif Dam project is also ongoing with an RO 51,000 investment.

These maintenance efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to improve water management in the region, benefiting both agricultural practices and local communities by enhancing water security and sustainability. The Ministry continues to prioritize these crucial infrastructure improvements to ensure long-term water resource availability for Al Buraimi Governorate.

The ongoing progress in these dam maintenance projects reflects the commitment of the Ministry to improve the region’s agricultural productivity and water resource management, making the area more resilient to climate change and future water scarcity challenges.
